Brentford manager Thomas Frank being linked with a move to Liverpool is “only natural” given the work he’s done with the Bees.

That’s according to Brentford midfielder Christian Nørgaard, speaking to Viaplay, relayed by Bold, who has refused to be drawn on whether his manager should be the man to replace Jurgen Klopp.

The German boss announced his decision to step down at the end of the season at the end of last month, staring the race to discover who will replace him at Anfield.

Frank is one of the names who has been linked with the position, with it believed he will be firmly on the radar of those in charge at Liverpool given the work he’s done at Brentford so far.

The Danish coach initially joined Brentford as assistant manager in 2016 and took the manager’s job two years later, a decision that has proved to be fruitful.

He’s taken charge of 259 games since, leading them out of the Championship and into the Premier League and keeping them there with an impressive 13th placed finish in their first season and then ninth last season.

This season has proven to be trickier thanks to a long injury list and the absence of Ivan Toney but that has not taken away from the impressive work done by Frank or his growing reputation.

Liverpool could certainly do worse for their next manager and Nørgaard insists it’s only natural that he is linked with the job.

“I shouldn’t be the one who says he can or he can’t. There is no doubt that the work he has done here has been fantastic,” he said.

“It gives a completely natural recognition that also makes him interesting for bigger clubs than Brentford.

“Whether Liverpool is the right step or whether there is a step between Brentford and Liverpool, I will leave that up for him to decide. It may also be that he feels that he is not finished here.

“But it is only natural with the work he has done that there are clubs bigger than Brentford who think he will be an interesting coach.”
