Even if Arsenal aren’t that interested in Mauro Icardi anymore, at least according to the Italian media, Napoli’s interest in the Argentinean striker still impacts the London club in some form.
In their Thursday edition, Gazzetta dello Sport have a big article about Inter Milan’s new situation since the club parted ways with Roberto Mancini and replaced the former Manchester City manager with Frank de Boer.
They cover in detail Aurelio De Laurentiis’ want to bring Icardi to the south of Italy, and also mention who the Milan club have been looking at as alternatives were they to receive a lot of money for their star striker.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani appears to be top of the list, while the clearly-not-going-anywhere Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also on the list, but it’s Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez who gets a bit more attention.
The Chilean winger has already spent time in Serie A with Udinese, where he impressed enough to earn a move to Barcelona, and a return to Italy is touted, even though Gazzetta don’t seem very convinced about it.
They state that even though Inter Milan have Sanchez on their list, the club know that the player’s demands will be way above what they can afford to give him.
It’s interesting they don’t mention whether or not the player would be interested, suggesting he probably would be, which we doubt at this stage.
Inter aren’t in the Champions League, while Arsenal are.
They can’t afford him anyway, so that’s that.
