Arsenal have been forced to sign a central defender after long term injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel.
Valencia’s Skhodran Mustafi has emerged as a possible target, with various media outlets reporting Arsenal’s interest in the German international.
However, the local Valencia media, who are usually reliable, keep repeating there have been no offers for the player yet.
Yesterday, Ali Bulut, Mustafi’s agent, was quoted by German websites Spox and Kicker. Spox reported Bulut as saying: “Shkodran and Arsenal have agreed. Now all is needed is for the teams to agree on a transfer fee.”
Kicker, on the other hand, felt his quotes has been twisted, and published new quotes from Bulut: “There are discussions, but there is no agreement – neither between Arsenal and Mustafi, or between Valencia and Arsenal.”
The transfer saga of Skhodran Mustafi to Arsenal has taken several twists in the last couple of days, and there seems to be a new plot twist. Maybe, Arsenal fans won’t enjoy reading the rest of it.
According to Valencia based website Super Deporte on Friday, Mustafi’s father made a phone call to Valencia to inform them Ali Bulut isn’t the agent of Mustafi, and that they’ve nothing to do with him.
That’s not only it. His father claims they haven’t been negotiating with Arsenal, and are not even aware of any interest.
Super Deporte say the information backs up their own claims that there is interest in Mustafi, but no offers have been made yet.
It is reported Valencia don’t intend to sell Mustafi this summer, and have instead placed other players on the transfer market.
