Aston Villa were linked with a move for AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze in the January transfer window.

While the Birmingham club never came forward with an offer for the winger, Fulham did make a late approach but couldn’t get a deal over the line.

MilanLive have added some more details to the Nigerian’s situation today, revealing that a move to Craven Cottage did not materialise for Chukwueze due to the limited time left in the window.

The outlet are quite confident that Aston Villa are still interested in the ex-Villarreal player, who played under Unai Emery at the Spanish club.

Aston Villa appear expected to return, although it’s unclear whether they’d offer a permanent transfer, a loan with obligation or a loan with option.

In any case, the Nigeria international’s future is likely to be up in the air in the summer and even Fulham could return for him.

So far this season, Chukwueze has scored four times and has one assist in 26 appearances in all competitions for Milan. The feeling is that he has not lived up to expectations at the San Siro, making the Rossoneri consider a sale.
