For as long as we can remember since Elia Caprile was sold by Leeds United to Bari, there has been talk of the Whites holding the rights to 50% of a future transfer.
The young Italian goalkeeper left Elland Road for a small fee last summer despite impressing at Pro Patria on loan, and the idea that they could hugely benefit from him developing and being sold made a lot of sense.
Well, after a very good season at Bari, there has been a lot of talk of him being sold, as discussed further by Calciomercato.it on Friday, which certainly would help Leeds after their relegation to the Championship.
Now managed by Daniel Farke, the Elland Road side are seeing a number of players leave for very small fees or on loan, and any income from a player that is no longer theirs would certainly be useful.
Calciomercato.it managed to speak to the young goalkeeper’s agent, who tried to calm the situation around his client despite many claims he could be sold to Napoli, the club of his dreams.
Graziano Battistini said: “I’m telling the truth, there’s really too much talk. There’s too much chaos around his name. The voices of Napoli, the voices here and there… are normal rumours for a boy who did so well last season. Then we’ll see what happens… If he expected this interest from Napoli? I didn’t ask him.”
The former Leeds player is currently on holiday and relaxing ahead of the new season, but everything could take off once he is back at Bari.
That being said, Battistini doesn’t think an exit will be easy, adding: “His future, it must be said, is all in his hands, and (Luigi) De Laurentiis has no intention of letting such an important talent slip from under his nose.”
