Julian Nagelsmann has revealed Emil Forsberg will miss RB Leipzig’s Champions League clash against Liverpool on Tuesday.
The Bundesliga side’s home leg tie of the knockout phase has been shifted to Budapest and they will be without the services of the 29-year-old.
On the attacking midfielder’s absence, Nagelsmann said: “Emil was able to train a little with the ball, but he still has pain when changing direction.”
Three weeks ago, the Sweden international suffered a knee injury in training and that has forced him to miss the last four matches. .
The player’s injury, ‘considered as a bruise’ at that time, is ‘not that harmless’, according to Bild.
It’s claimed the ‘inner ligament in his knee’ is said to be ‘affected’, which is why he had MRI scans.
Forsberg is a key player for Leipzig and his absence ‘really hurts RB’, adds the German outlet.
Bild state Liverpool are ‘currently weak’ because they have won only two of their last seven outings. The Reds have scored three times and conceded nine goals in the last three matches.
Nagelsmann’s side, on the other hand, have won all their four matches in Forsberg’s absence, scoring 10 goals and conceding only one in the process.
