With the Brazilian media obviously giving big coverage to the FA’s charges against Lucas Paquetá, it now seems the West Ham United star may even get a call to legally address it.
That was revealed by Senator Jorge Kajuru, who’s the president of an ongoing Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry regarding gambling in sports.
The politician was interviewed by O Globo, and said that the West Ham player will soon be summoned to explain his case.
“Yes, he will, it’s moving towards that.”
There is, however, no date set for that to happen.
“We’ll discuss it today,” he said.
This Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry in the Brazilian Senate has been quite big, with club presidents taking part in most of the sessions. The big intention is to investigate the many allegations and suspicions of match-fixing in the local league.
Lucas Paquetá’s case is an issue for the FA, and it’s unlikely that the Brazilian justice has any access to the process for now. But since he’s representing the national team at the Copa América, those responsible for the commission now believe the West Ham player must explain himself in his country as well.
