West Ham United could be handed their chance to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus this month because of his lack of playing time at the German club.
That’s according to Kicker, who cover the player today and how ‘there could now be movement’ around him before the end of the window.
A report earlier this week indicated that West Ham were in the picture for the 26-year-old, explaining that they were battling with Aston Villa with his signature.
They were one of several sides considering a move for the German, but the English track was concrete for the midfielder at this moment in time.
That explained Gladbach are not interested in selling for now but could sanction a loan deal and Kicker now explain that is because of a lack of playing time for the player.
They explain Neuhaus is at ‘a dead end’ and thus ‘facing a quick farewell’ despite having recently extended his contract at the club.
Rather than an extended stay he ‘looks more like’ he will be departing as Neuhaus is growing frustrated with a lack of minutes under manager Gerardo Seoane.
It appears he is not a part of the manager’s plans and neither side are happy with the situation, particularly as it doesn’t appear likely to change in the coming weeks.
That’s opened the door to a loan deal, although Borussia’s managers are keeping a low profile on that front for the time being. It’s a trick situation but it would make little sense to keep a top earner when he’s not got much sporting significance for the team.
The player would prefer to be playing somewhere else and so the possibility of a last-minute exit in this window is there, potentially to West Ham or anywhere else.
