Remo Freuler came to Nottingham Forest after having acquired a lot of experience in Serie A and the Champions League.

Forest always seemed like a misfit for the Swiss midfielder and after being dropped by Steve Cooper in the last few games of his only season at the club, Freuler joined Bologna on an initial loan deal.

His move was eventually made permanent and the 32-year-old has proved to be a vital player for the Rossoblu.

Cuori Rossoblu have hailed his contributions to the team, stating that the Swiss star didn’t have an ‘entirely positive experience’ at Forest but he is ‘more than just a midfielder’ for Vincenzo Italiano’s side.

They also shed some light on how Thiago Motta had initially lured Freuler to Bologna. On a phone call, the midfielder was told to leave Forest ‘immediately’ and that decision has been postive for the Serie A side.

He has played in multiple areas of the midfield for Bologna and he has played 41 times for club and country already in 2024. The veteran become a leader at the club, as he drags his younger teammates forward.

His season so far has been described as ‘extraordinary’ and points to the fact that his move to Forest was a low in his career.
