On Tuesday, Valencia made a renewal offer to Cristhian Mosquera, days after rejecting an initial bid from Arsenal.

The centre-back’s contract expires in 2026 and he had wanted to extend his stay. Valencia then dragged the process out and that gave the Premier League club the chance to muscle their way in and turn the player’s head.

On Wednesday, Las Provincias reported the 21-year-old rejected the renewal offer because he wants to play for Arsenal. They also stated he’s agreed terms with Mikel Arteta’s side.

Thursday’s edition of Superdeporte, another newspaper local to the Spanish club, reports the defender rejected Valencia’s improved offer just hours after they submitted it. He wasn’t pleased with the terms offered, even aside from Arsenal interest.

Mosquera has urged Los Ches to negotiate his sale to the Premier League side, who are offering a better deal, both financially and sporting wise.

Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the negotiations and the report states that after their initial was rejected, a new offer ‘is imminent’. It’s expected to be between €20-25m including bonuses of €3-5m.

Valencia owner Peter Lim has to make a decision on the player, but the newspaper says ‘all roads lead to a sale’. This indicates the Spain U21 international is edging closer towards a move to the north London club.

Superdeporte says the ‘reality is that he’s more out than in’, meaning the defender is set to leave this summer. Arsenal may need to hit €20m or a little higher.
