Malmo captain Markus Rosenberg has told the Swedish media it was always going to be difficult keeping Pawel Cibicki at the club once Leeds United’s interest was known.

The 23 year old yesterday agreed to sign for the Championship side on a four year contract.

Speaking to regional newspaper Sydsvenskan, Rosenberg was asked about Cibicki’s transfer to Leeds United, and what impact it would have on Malmo.

“We lose a good player. It’s clearly affecting us. Obviously he will be a good player. It’s always hard to stop a player leaving when it’s about the money. I myself didn’t have a good experience in England. But it’s clear they scouted Pawel and they want that kind of player.”

Since last weekend Leeds United have been linked with a move for Cibicki, and the player himself confirmed on Wednesday he was in talks over a move to England. Yesterday the attacker missed training with Malmo, leading to reports he was on the verge of a move to Elland Road.

Initial reports say Leeds United have agreed a £1.9m transfer fee for the youngster, and his agent has confimed his client will be deployed in a central attacking role.
