The Spanish media continues to report on West Brom’s efforts to sign Okay Yokuslu, and there’s several current takes on the situation.
La Voz de Galicia, a newspaper local to Celta Vigo, reports that negotiations with West Brom are ‘far enough advanced’ for the move to happen, however the player is still trying to get a buying clause removed.
The initial idea was for the midfielder to move to West Ham on loan, with a purchase clause worth around €5m. Celta wanted that to be unconditional, with the Baggies having to make the permanent signing regardless of what happens, whereas West Brom wanted it to only apply if they avoid relegation from the Premier League.
Celta ‘would be willing to accept’ the latter scenario, but Yokuslu is insisting there’s no clause at all, he just wants a straight loan. Should the Spanish club accept then the move is ‘just a matter of signatures’ away.
La Razon have it slightly differently, saying Celta still want a mandatory clause. They report West Brom would pay €1.5m for the loan and then a further €4-5m for a permanent transfer.
Faro de Vigo are very optimistic, if brief, and say Yokuslu ‘will fly to England today’ to finalise the transfer, although they don’t have any further details.
