Hakan Çalhanoğlu has placed Manchester City’s Rodri and Chelsea’s Enzo Fernández below himself when it comes to the top five midfielders in the world.
The midfielder has enjoyed a stellar season with Inter Milan so far. The 30-year-old has been speaking to DAZN Italia, relayed by Mundo Deportivo, where he talked about the Manchester City and the Chelsea midfielders.
Çalhanoğlu was specifically asked about Rodri, Fernández, Real Madrid star Toni Kroos and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. He was asked to rate him against these four players.
Although he rates these players, the former AC Milan star said he’s number one, followed by the Manchester City star, the German duo and then Fernández.
It’s to be noted that Çalhanoğlu was specifically given the names of these four players and asked to rate them rather than him talking on his own about the four midfielders.
The Turkey international’s statistics this season are better when compared to the other four players. Operating as a midfielder, he’s scored 11 goals and registered three assists from 30 games.
Rodri and Çalhanoğlu faced each other in the Champions League final last season, and the former’s goal helped Manchester City beat Inter.
