Following months of rumours, it now looks like Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez is finally close to making a move to Leeds United.

The information comes from Italian outlet L’Unione Sarda, who today feature a story with the latest transfer business done by the Serie A side.

The website writes that ‘the tracks of Inter Milan and Roma are moving away’, as Nandez is actually ‘ready to leave for Leeds United’.

L’Unione Sarda claims this will be the most expensive signing the Elland Road side have ever made, since the player’s release clause is €36m.

They don’t really make it clear if the Whites have triggered the player’s release clause of if they’re nearing an agreement with Cagliari. Either way, the report is quite confident that the move is ‘close’.

Nahitan Nandez is currently in Brazil, where he’s taking part in the Copa America for Uruguay. So it’d make sense if it takes a little longer before Leeds United and Cagliari can finally confirm the move.

The Whites’ record signing was made last summer, when buying Rodrigo from Valencia in a €30m deal.
