A regular starter at Middlesbrough under Garry Monk, Fabio Da Silva disappeared from the Boro squad as soon as Tony Pulis was appointed, only to reappear five games from the end of the season for a few cameo appearances.
Soon after, the manager explained the full-back had asked to leave, which seemed to be the beginning of the end for the former Manchester United starlet.
From that point onwards, it seemed rather clear the Brazilian defender’s future would be far away from Riverside, and it appears he might have found a landing spot.
According to Ouest-France, the 28-year-old is getting ‘seriously close’ to signing with Nantes in Ligue 1 for a small fee of €2m.
Once there, Fabio should sign a three-year deal, and will fill a rather prominent gap at the French side, currently short on full-backs.
Fabio’s ability to play on either side of the defence will bring much needed versatility to Miguel Cardoso’s team after the 46-year-old replaced Claudio Ranieri.
Furthermore, he’ll be much closer to his brother, who is currently contracted to Lyon.
