According to a claim in the Turkish media, Fenerbahce are showing interest in Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguay international arrived from Benfica in 2022, in a big money deal which out added pressure on him.
Ajan Spor today claim Fenerbahce are looking to bring in the Liverpool attacker after missing out on the Super Lig title by one point last season.
Since the arrival of Jose Mourinho as their new manager they’ve been linked with a number of big-name players in recent weeks.
There’s a claim of talks for the 25-year-old to move, and those talks are said to be headed by Mourinho and Jorge Mendes. That would suggest they’re working with Fener, and any offer, with one claimed, being made to the player.
He’s represented by Gestifute, so is in the Mendes stable, but surely a deal would be hugely difficult even with that connection.
Nunez is seen as an ideal replacement for Michy Batshuayi, who recently left the Yellow Canaries to join local rivals Galatasaray. There have been reports Edin Dzeko could also move on in this transfer window.
There’s a lot of excitement around Fenerbahce at the moment, due to Mourinho arriving at the club and the Mendes connections that can bring.
Fener making an attempt wouldn’t be ruled out, but it’s still wildly ambitious.
