Regardless of his importance to Monaco, it seems we are destined to have Fabinho rumours all the way through to the end of the transfer window.
According to multiple reports in France, including Le Parisien and FootMercato, Jorge Mendes travelled to Monaco on Monday to discuss their transfer business ahead of the 31st of August, and the futures of Fabinho and Joao Moutinho were allegedly discussed.
The Brazilian right-back, who has since been moved to play as a defensive midfielder by Leonardo Jardim, has been linked with both Manchester United and Chelsea at various points over the course of the summer.
L’Equipe on Tuesday say that this change of position has all but stopped his chances of playing for Brazil, while the doors on a move to either of the Premier League clubs are slowly closing.
Despite all of this, the player continues to obey his manager’s orders without causing a fuss, at least publicly.
With Jorge Mendes discussing their futures, you would be forgiven to think a deal could end up being done, but Monaco, who are currently joint top of Ligue 1 after beating Paris Saint-Germain 3-1 at the weekend, seem to be readying their heels ahead of digging them in when it comes to Fabinho.
L”Equipe reported a few days ago that should Manchester United want to sign Fabinho at the end of the window then it would cost them €30m+, with Monaco having to be persuaded in the same way they were with Anthony Martial.
We expect a few more stories to pop up in the coming 24 hours, but very little action.
