Despite Argentina’s two wins during the international break, they had many injury problems, with the right-back position being their main issue.
It was first Nahuel Molina who had a muscle issue and couldn’t play against Peru. That’s why Nottingham Forest fullback Gonzalo Montiel was given the chance to start in last night’s match.
The Tricky Trees’ player also ended up injured, though, coming off in the first half. El Intra now shares some news on his situation.
The outlet recalls that Montiel felt some pain right after Argentina’s first goal, and ‘quickly’ made signs to the bench to be replaced.
That happened with just 32 minutes into the game, with the national team having to improvise a central defender on the right side.
Montiel retreated to the bench, and ‘medical tests are pending’, as it seems he’ll only have his examinations once he returns to Nottingham Forest.
El Intra claims it’s only thought to be a muscular problem, although it’s only the medical staff who can give a verdict on the situation.
Nottingham Forest play again on Saturday, as they face Luton Town at the City Ground.
