Tottenham Hotspur had reportedly looked at Club Brugge star Andreas Skov Olsen in the winter market.
Last December, Het Nieuwsblad stated the Premier League side showed keen interest in the 23-year-old in January but no deal took shape, partly because he picked up an injury that month.
The Denmark international is currently with the national team and this allowed the local press to have a chat with him. He was specifically asked about the rumours of ‘concrete interest’ from Tottenham and Ekstra Bladet have relayed his comments.
Responding to that, he said: “I can’t say it that way. Maybe there was a little bit.”
It was followed up with another question whether Tottenham ‘have shown interest’ in the winger.
“Maybe a little bit, yes. But nothing close at all,” Skov Olsen explained.
“At some point I would like to try the Premier League before my career ends one day. Whether it will be now, I don’t know. Time will tell. I am also open to other choices,” the Dane explained.
The Club Brugge player has also stressed he hasn’t been close to joining the ‘big club in England’.
“It hasn’t been so concrete that there have been negotiations at all. I was injured in January after the World Cup, so that also put everything on hold a bit,” he added.
Ekstra Bladet doesn’t make it clear if this rumoured interest from Spurs was from January or for the summer. Back in April, Belgian newspaper De Morgen reported the player’s ‘dream transfer’ to Tottenham is ‘completely off the table’.
Despite struggling with injuries this year, the Club Brugge player finished last season with nine goals and seven assists from 30 games.
