According to a claim in the Turkish media, Galatasaray are showing interest in Leeds United defender Maximilian Wöber.
With the Super Lig transfer window closing on Friday, the Turkish champions are looking to carry out some last-minute business and want to bring in a central defender.
Takvim, and others, have reported on Galatasaray’s pursuit of the Leeds United player and they state the Austrian international is a firm target ahead of the Turkish deadline.
After the arrival of Victor Osimhen from Napoli on a season long loan deal, the Istanbul side are looking to revert to a back five.
Subsequently they want bring in a left sided central defender and Wöber reportedly fits the profile. It’s claimed Galatasaray are in transfer talks to sign the player on a loan deal, with an options to buy, but face a race against time with just three days left of the Turkish window.
Only this week there were reports they are also targeting Tottenham Hotspur’s defender Ben Davies.
The 26-year-old spent last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach, making 27 appearances for the Bundesliga side. He’s contracted to Leeds United until June 2027.
He’s recently spoken about recovering from a calf injury and missed Austria’s last match due to a knee issue, so that could be a hurdle for Galatasaray and any medical.
