Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak? Who is the better striker right now? That’s a question that is apparently causing a stir in Norway and has dragged Arsenal’s Martin Ødegaard into answering.

Fotboll Skanalen cover comments from the Arsenal star today as he was asked to pick between the Newcastle United and Manchester City stars.

The two strikers have again been banging in the goals in the Premier League this season, with the Manchester City star second in the rankings on 21 goals but closely followed by Newcastle’s leading man on 19 goals.

This has led to an ongoing debate about who is the best, which is always the case but particularly more so when the two nations are so closely linked.

Sweden manager Jon Dahl Tomasson was busy backing his man this week, insisting that Newcastle’s Isak was the best in the Premier League when he was asked to enter the debate.

Fotboll Skanalen wanted to find out the other side of the fence’s ideas so travelled to Norway’s pre-match press conference, where they put the question to Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard.

“Both are good in and around the box and score a lot of goals. They are a little different in their style of play, but both are dangerous goal scorers,” he said, before then standing up for the Manchester City man, his international teammate.

“I have been lucky enough to play with both of them and found it enjoyable. If you look at what Erling has done and the records, he sets all the time, it speaks for itself. But it is clear that Isak has had a very good season and is a fantastic player.”
