Galatasaray have failed in an attempt to sign Leeds United’s Ezgjan Alioski this month, with Marcelo Bielsa blocking an exit from Elland Road.
That’s according to Haberturk, who confirm that the 28-year-old is a target for Galatasaray boss Fatih Terim.
They explain that Terim is keen to improve both full-back positions in future and, having abandoned a move for RB Leipzig’s Marcelo Saracchi, have now turned their attention to Alioski.
His contract at Leeds expires in the summer, and so the Turkish side have ‘started to negotiate’ with the player about a potential moved.
Gala were keen on a move this month but at the moment that looks unlikely to happen, with it claimed that Bielsa did not want the player to leave this month and the Super Lig side’s plan ‘fell through’.
Terim remains determined to get his man, though, and is planning for the North Macedonia star to sign in the summer instead.
His plan is to have the Leeds man and Emre Taşdemir as his options at left-back, although it is stated that Alioski can only arrive at an ‘affordable cost’.
What that means isn’t clear, but presumably, it has something to do with his wages and Galatasaray not wanting to break the bank to secure his signature.
Either way, a move away from Leeds looks unlikely this month, but this is certainly one to keep an eye on for the summer if the player doesn’t sign a new deal at Elland Road.
