PSV director Marcel Brands has stepped in to stop the club signing Dele Alli from Everton, pushing the midfielder closer to Besiktas.
That’s according to journalist Raffaele Amato, who says the Turkish side have upped their bid in an effort to get the deal over the line.
Reports in Turkey have indicated that Dele is on the verge of leaving Everton for Besiktas, after they accepted the Toffees demands for a loan deal.
There is now an agreement in place for the midfielder to spend the season on loan and Besiktas to be able to sign him permanently for €6m in January or €8m in the summer.
And according to Amato, they’ve rushed to agree to these terms thanks to PSV Eindhoven showing an interest.
He reported last night that the Dutch side were one to ‘watch out for’, with them considering a move as they look to bolster their squad.
He’s now followed that up, though, and states Brands, who was of course director of football at Everton until last year, ‘forced an abrupt end’ to that plan.
According to his information, the move was being pushed for by PSV’s director of football John de Jong, but Brands vetoed the idea outright. Why that is isn’t made clear.
However, it has left Dele ‘one step away’ from joining Besiktas instead, with it explained they have ‘raised their offer’ because they want to close the deal in the next few hours.
He, interestingly, adds that Dele is ‘unenthusiastic’ about the move to Turkey but as it is his only option to get out of Goodison Park, he will accept it anyway.
