Nicolas Tagliafico is a name we’re all going to be hearing more of between now and the summer window.
He joined Ajax in the January 2018 transfer window and has gone on to become an important player for the club. The Argentine international cost the Dutch side around €5m and if they sell this summer then they’re going to be making a good profit.
Tottenham have been linked, which we’ll return to, but Thursday’s edition of Marca leads with Atletico Madrid interest.
After months of reports, and a story which Marca first reported in December, Bayern Munich announced on Wednesday that Lucas Hernandez will be joining them this summer.
That leaves Atletico without a player who has this season split his time between left and central defence. They €80m to console themselves with.
There’s competition for Atletico, with the player receiving ‘siren songs’ from around Europe, and it’s stated Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham are the ‘latest to join the bidding’.
There’s some links previously, but it’s hard to work out if it’s built on information or speculation.
An Argentine international, available at a reasonable price, playing at Ajax, is always going to be linked to Tottenham, given all the boxes it ticks and the connections already in place.
It may take a while to work out just what the claims are based upon.
