Manchester City may well have had a wobble of late, convincingly ended against West Brom at the weekend, but generally as a club they’ve been going in the right direction for years.
Spanish newspaper Marca are very impressed and in their Monday edition pay homage to the club’s development, on and off the pitch. Marca explain it doesn’t only matter that Manchester City are top of the league, or that they’ve scored the most goals this season, what matters more is that the whole organisation has climbed several rungs up the ladder.
The first team is doing well, the club’s youth teams are doing well, and the Women’s team is also excelling.
The club have great facilities, have recruited some very talented youngsters, several from Spain, and are already seeing the results of their earlier hard work.
Pep Guardiola’s system for the first team is mirrored throughout the youth levels, and is enabling some excellent youngsters to excel.
Marca say that because of all this development, Manchester City are now the ‘benchmark in all categories’ of the English game, showing everyone else how a club should be run in modern English football.
