Yerry Mina spent too much time dancing and not enough on the pitch at Everton, hence the overall disappointment of his spell in England.
That’s according to journalist Lele Casini, who has covered the Colombian defender today and perfectly summarised his time at Goodison Park in three sentences.
Mina joined Everton in a €30.25m deal from Barcelona in August 2018, arriving as part of a trio of players making the switch from Camp Nou that summer.
He was unable to live up to that price tag, though, with a series of injuries meaning he only managed 99 appearances in Royal Blue before leaving on a free transfer to Fiorentina in August last year.
When Everton were able to get him fit, he proved to be a more than capable player and a firm fan favourite, both for his performances on the pitch and his personality, with him often dancing alongside teammate when things were going well.
Casini, though, believes there was a little too much dancing and not enough focus on the important stuff during his time on Merseyside.
Looking back at his career, he eventually reached the transfer to Goodison Park, relayed by Tutto Cagliari: “Then the move to Everton for €46m. Injuries and an exuberance with a few too many dances to celebrate goals and victories, do not make his future as rosy as it should. Last summer, after five years he farewelled the Toffees and made his arrival in Italy.”
