Atalanta midfielder Ederson could still end up as part of a Manchester United transfer this summer, albeit to the side of one.

Pagine Romanisti report on the situation today, including comments from agent Dario Canovi.

Manchester United eyeing €50m deal

The growing report is that Manu Koné could leave Roma this summer. He has impressed at the World Cup with France, despite their disappointing exit at the hands of Spain.

The latest rumours have linked him with a potential €50m move to Manchester United. The belief is that they are targeting a third midfielder before the end of the window despite already signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

They had intended to do a deal for Atalanta’s Ederson, with that most wrapped up before the start of the World Cup. But they pulled out of that deal over the last week following concerns discovered during the medical process.

Agent suggests Ederson

Now their attention appears to be on Manu Koné, and the agent believes is ready for the big move outside of Italy.

“He would be yet another key player to leave our league and move abroad,” explained Canovi.

“It is yet another sign of our league’s decline, given that many Italian clubs are forced to sell players to balance their books.

“I always believe that it is the buyer who sets the valuation. Even though €50m is still a staggering sum compared to a few years ago. There is no doubt, however, that it would be a significant loss for Roma.”

He was then asked if Ederson would make sense as a replacement for the Frenchman at Roma, should he leave.

“I really like Ederson; he can do it all,” he added.

“He was one of the midfielders who won back the most balls in the league. But at the same time he also has the flair to produce plenty of assists and score plenty of goals. I’m convinced that Gasperini would also give the go-ahead to this potential deal.”
