Fiorentina are waiting for Manchester United to ‘relaunch’ for midfielder Sofyan Amrabat after their ‘last offer’ for the Morocco star was ‘rejected’.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the situation around the midfielder ‘remains pending’ for the time being.
United have been linked with a move for Amrabat throughout the summer, with it believed that Erik ten Hag is keen to add to his midfield and has identified the player as the man he wants.
A deal has not yet progressed as Manchester United have focused their efforts elsewhere, first on a deal for goalkeeper Andre Onana and then striker Rasmus Hojlund.
With the first done and the latter close to being finalised, there has been a sudden picking up of the pace in terms of Amrabat and Gazzetta now say a bid has been rejected.
They make no mention of the nature of the ‘last offer’ from those in charge at Old Trafford, just that it was deemed insufficient by Fiorentina and so turned down.
The Italian side are now waiting for a ‘relaunch’ from Manchester United for the player, requiring a ‘decisive thrust’ from the Red Devils to get the transfer process moving properly and his move to Old Trafford properly underway.
Whether Manchester United are willing to do that yet isn’t mentioned but it appears their initial efforts have not been good enough and they need to do more if they do want Amrabat this summer.
