Having suffered a number of injuries at the back this season, Manchester United have had a tougher time than expected in all competitions.
Other factors have also contributed to what is a dire sophomore slump for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, meaning changes will take place going forward, especially with the INEOS mini-takeover set to greatly impact sporting plans going forward.
One of the areas that will be addressed is Manchester United’s defence, with Jean-Clair Todibo a very likely target, according to Nice-Matin.
The local newspaper explain that the Red Devils were already keen to sign the centre-back in the winter, but the price tag set by the Ligue 1 side of €60m is currently a bit off-putting.
While an already existing INEOS link could have helped, the fact the move has yet to be ratified by the Premier League means it cannot be officially used now.
In the summer, however, there could be a direct channel between both clubs to facilitate negotiations, and Nice-Matin report that Manchester United ‘will bank on Dave Brailsford and Jim Ratcliffe to promote the INEOS bridge’ for a transfer.
They will, however, have to make do with some competition from Liverpool, who are seen as a more attractive destination for the player to date, especially since they have Ibrahima Konaté in their squad, a good friend of Todibo’s.
