Erik ten Hag has publicly urged Manchester United to sign a striker as soon as possible. The English club have reportedly identified Atalanta’s Rasmus Højlund as the main target.
On Tuesday, we relayed news from Italy that there were close contacts between the intermediaries involved in the deal. It was also stated the Serie A side expect an offer from the Red Devils in the next 48 hours.
Alfredo Pedullà states the Italian club have now asked Manchester United to ‘speed up’ their efforts to sign the 20-year-old.
He says Atalanta have requested €70m plus bonuses to reach €75m, to sanction Højlund’s sale and the Premier League side ‘will present a proposal not far’ from the their demands.
The journalist states this bid from Ten Hag’s side should arrive in the next few days, if not on Thursday. He adds Atalanta are in a ‘hurry’ to sell the player, which is why they have asked Manchester United to step up their efforts to close the deal.
Claims elsewhere have stated Atalanta want €85m for Højlund but Pedullà has dismissed these rumours.
Pedullà adds the Denmark international is keen on a move to Old Trafford and already has an agreement in place with Manchester United. It’s down to the two clubs to agree a deal to conclude the operation.
