Matteo Darmian’s lack of games under José Mourinho has been a frequent discussion in the Italian papers. But not because they think he’s receiving unfair treatment from the manager. The reason for the fuss is because big local clubs would like to have him in the squad.
Corriere claims that Juventus have been in contact with Manchester United in order to know the player’s situation. They’d be preparing for Stephan Lichtsteiner’s possible departure to Inter Milan, the club their article is mainly on, and have Darmian as a backup plan.
However, they should be careful because Inter could also use the money from the new ownership to try and buy Darmian from Manchester United in case they give up on landing the Swiss international.
Inter’s interest is also mentioned in Tuttosport. The newspaper says that although Manchester United rejected a loan offer a few days ago, they could change their minds before the winter transfer window. It will all depend on how much time Darmian will have until then, and the decision of Mourinho.
Darmian is still to have a start under José Mourinho, and Corriere use some harsh words to say the player will watch the Manchester Derby from a privileged position: the bench or the stands.
