Manchester United’s Christian Eriksen is a doubt for Denmark ahead of their clash with Germany on Saturday thanks to a stomach problem.
That’s according to NRK, who cover comments from Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand today after Eriksen missed training on Friday.
Eriksen has been one of the stars for Denmark at Euro 2024 so far, with several impressive performances helping his side to qualify for the knockout stages, where they will now meet hosts Germany.
Losing him for that game would be a major blow but there is a chance that could happen, with the player having sat out of training with a stomach problem.
The Manchester United man was asked to sit out by the coaching team over concerns that he may have a bug, with teammate Thomas Delaney also having reported a problem before him.
The team have now arranged it so that Eriksen will travel to Dortmund alone by car, avoiding travelling on the bus with his teammates in case the Manchester United midfielder does have something contagious.
The hope is that he doesn’t, though, with Hjulmand insisting there is a confidence in the camp he will be available.
“Christian woke up with a little rumbling in his stomach, and we had the same with Thomas Delaney earlier. To be sure that nothing will develop, we asked him not to train,” he said.
“Fortunately, he is doing better, so it has not gone in the wrong direction, as it did with Delaney. So, we expect him to recover soon, and that he is ready for tomorrow. That is what we expect.”
