Since the start of the year, we covered a couple of reports about Manchester United’s interest in Lille defender Leny Yoro.
It was first claimed the Red Devils ‘formalised’ discussions for the 18-year-old, with RMC Sport saying they asked for information on the potential signing.
A fresh story on Yoro’s future is now brought by Le10Sport, and Manchester United are again named as one of the contenders for the transfer.
The Red Devils aren’t expected to have an easy task, though. First because there’s the competition from Paris Saint Germain, Manchester City and Liverpool for the player.
Then there’s also the fact that Lille are against his exit in the January transfer window. According to Le10Sport, they request at least €90m for the transfer.
RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo is also quizzed talking about the pursuit, and claimed: “Yoro to Paris, no. The door is closed, Létang has closed the door and Fonseca is holding on. He’s at the back, blocking the door. They won’t let him go, or else it would have to be a totally crazy and excessive sum of money”.
So for Manchester United to win this race, it seems they’ll have to be very much decided about making the big investment in Yoro.
Perhaps such an expensive defensive signing would have to do with Raphael Varane’s potential exit from the club, and is likelier to take place in the summer than in January.
