Victor Osimhen is considered an ‘ideal reinforcement’ by Manchester United as they plan another refresh of their forward line.
That’s according to journalist Niccolò Ceccarini, via Tuttomercatoweb, who reports that Manchester United can take advantage of a €75m clause that is only valid for sides outside of Italy.
Ceccarini looks at various potential transfer activity for Italian clubs this summer, with Napoli expected to be among the busiest.
They’re keen to keep strengthening for Antonio Conte, particularly to find a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who left for Paris Saint-Germain in January.
They first need to deal with Osimhen, though, who is due to return from a loan spell at Galatasaray.
He joined the Turkish side in the summer after failing to secure a move elsewhere, with both him and Napoli determined to go their separate ways after five years, 133 appearances and 76 goals.
Manchester United have long been credited with an interest in the Nigerian striker and that’s continued this year, with the latest report this week indicating that a swap deal could be on the cards and that a proposal has already been made.
Ceccarini insists they are very much in the mix, and there’s a clause they can take advantage of too.
“At the end of the season, after his experience with Galatasaray, Osimhen will also return,” he said when discussing Napoli’s plans.
“It is certainly no secret that he is Juventus’ big target for next year. Giuntoli knows him well and considers him the ideal reinforcement for the Bianconeri attack, also in light of the increasingly probable departure of Vlahovic.
“The real issue for Juventus is to set up a negotiation with Napoli under certain economic conditions. Osimhen has a lot of market and above all he is very popular in the Premier League. He has a release clause that is only valid for abroad of €75m. Manchester United are ready to change their attacking sector again and the Nigerian is considered an ideal reinforcement.
“Arsenal are also interested in him, having also had Kean and Vlahovic in their sights for some time. Paris Saint Germain remains in the background, having made a decisive move immediately after the Scudetto but without being able to finalise the deal.
“In short, Osimhen is destined to be one of the big stars of the next summer market.”
