Benfica’s interest in Manchester United fullback Alvaro Fernandez is gaining more attention from the Portuguese media.
After breaking the news earlier this week, outlet O Jogo is today back with a little more information on the Eagles’ chase for the Spaniard.
It’s said Benfica have the player ‘very well referenced’ by their scouting team, and already got in touch with Manchester United, as well as with Granada, who have him on loan, to know the possibility of a deal.
The Eagles are still to decide whether they’ll attempt the signing in January or in the summer, when the player returns to England, but it seems they’ll make an effort in any case.
As newspaper Record also writes about the pursuit, they claim Manchester United want €7m for Fernandez’s sale, although there’s the possibility that they’ll accept less, as long as they keep a percentage from a future transfer.
That seems an optimistic standpoint for Benfica.
Record also claim Benfica aren’t clear whether they’re trying in the winter in the summer, and it looks like that will depend on Granada’s stance.
