Earlier on Tuesday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated Manchester United have already scouted Kim Min-jae in ‘detail’ while in action for Napoli this season.
It was also explained the Red Devils’ process of finding new owners could limit their chances of securing the defender’s services in the summer.
Another Italian newspaper, Corriere dello Sport, however, provide more information on Manchester United’s pursuit of the defender, and makes it sound far more convincing.
The South Korea international has been instrumental in helping the Serie A side win the title this season. He’s made 33 league appearances, managing two goals and two assists in the process.
Min-jae has a contract until 2027, which includes a €50m or so release clause (it varies depending on the interested club) that only comes into effect in the first two weeks of July.
His fine form has attracted attention from Manchester United as he’s become the ‘great goal’ for Erik ten Hag in the next window.
The report further adds the Premier League side are ‘ready to bring’ the 26-year-old to Old Trafford ‘immediately’ by paying his clause.
Corriere only focuses on Manchester United’s plans to sign the player, but there’s nothing to indicate if Min-jae is open to making a switch to England, especially when you take into consideration the fact he has just won the Serie A title with his current club.
