Manchester United are going through a summer of mini-sagas.
First up was Mason Mount and his move from Chelsea, and as soon as that was agreed it was Andre Onana’s turn. Once the goalkeeper was secured, attention turned to Atalanta and Rasmus Winther Højlund.
Again, this had turned into a little saga but looks to be all agreed now, which means there’s space for someone new to get the full glare of the Manchester United transfer spotlight.
That man is Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat, although it’s fair to say the interest isn’t new and there’s been claims dating back to the January window.
Indeed, multiple clubs have been linked with the midfielder, and he’s looking to leave La Viola in the current market.
Monday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport has a big article on the situation, and we’ll take you through what they say.
Manchester United are said to be ‘pressing’ for a transfer at €25m, whereas Fiorentina originally wanted €30m.
La Viola would accept €25m plus bonuses, but aren’t so keen on it as a straight fee.
No clubs Amrabat would be keen on joining have offered anything Fiorentina deem to be acceptable. There’s been interest from West Ham, but the player would much prefer a club like Manchester United.
Despite this blockage, Gazzetta say it’s hard to believe that an exit won’t happen eventually this summer. There’s then the claim interest from Saudi club Al-Hilal ‘could give United a jolt’ to raise their offer.
In all honesty, the difference from €25m straight to €25m plus bonuses doesn’t seem like a big jump.
There’s no suggestion Fiorentina are asking for something silly with bonuses, just the feeling they want to hang on to the possibility of making €30m.
