AS Roma are currently fifth in Serie A and that won’t be good enough to get them Champions League football next season.

On Saturday they lost 2-1 to SPAL which will have been a blow for Claudio Ranieri, with the club’s new manager having enjoyed a 2-1 victory over Empoli in his first match back at the Italian club.

Without a place in UEFA’s premier competition, some players could choose to leave and Roma may well want to get rid of their salaries. Calciomercato report that Kostas Manolas is currently the biggest ‘risk’, with Manchester United said to be ‘pressing’ for the player.

It’s explained he’s got a €36m clause. That figure would be absolutely no problem for Manchester United, should interest from the Premier League club be genuine.

Manolas has had constant links over a move to Old Trafford, but there’s never seemed to be anything especially concrete about the chase.

Whilst Calciomercato say Manchester United have been ‘pressing’ for the player, they don’t elaborate on what that has actually involved.
