Over the past two days, Manchester United have again been linked with Ajax’s Donny van de Beek.
Voetbal International has the latest update on the Netherlands international’s future, and they claim the Premier League club ‘preparing an offer’ for the midfielder.
Within the report, it’s explained that despite United expressing their interest in the player with Edwin van der Sar, Ajax have not received any official offer for Van de Beek.
According to the magazine, negotiations are said to ‘start soon’ between Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and the Eredivisie club as United are thinking of tabling an offer of around €40m for the Dutchman.
The English club’s hope is to ‘trump Real Madrid’ in signing Van de Beek. It’s claimed that Zinedine Zidane’s side have already negotiated with Ajax, the player and his entourage for a deal worth €50m plus €5m in bonuses.
Real Madrid only have to transfer the amount and conduct the versatile midfielder’s medical to complete the transfer. VI, however, state the La Liga side aren’t keen to do so right now.
Marca reported on Monday that Los Blancos don’t intend to sign Van de Beek this summer. Therefore, VI’s report mentioning the €50m fee earlier agreed between the two clubs could be an indication for Manchester United to start the transfer negotiations from the same figure.
If there are no movements in the coming months, the report adds Van de Beek could continue at Johan Cruyff Arena for one more season.
