Mason Mount has had a torrid time at Manchester United so far.

The Englishman has been plagued by injuries and this season he has played only 403 minutes in all competitions. As of now, he is nursing a thigh problem having previously picked up a hamstring injury.

It now seems as if attempts are being made to take Mount away from Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

InterLive have reported today that the midfielder’s ‘agents are working’ towards an exit from Old Trafford, amidst the feeling that his valuation has now fallen to about €30m.

That has alerted Inter Milan, who are interested in the possibility of signing Mount on an initial loan deal with the option to buy him permanently later. Having said that, they would need significant help from Manchester United to pay the 26-year-old’s salary.

The Italian champions see Mount as a potential replacement for Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who is now 36 and approaching the end of his career.

It remains to be seen if Manchester United can agree to the terms that Inter want, but getting Mount’s wages off their books can definitely help the Red Devils.
