Anthony Martial has found regular playing time hard to come by at Manchester United this season and has decided to leave Old Trafford in the winter market.
The forward’s desire to change clubs was confirmed by his agent earlier this month and he’s been linked to Juventus, Barcelona and Sevilla since then.
After the two Spanish clubs faced each other on Tuesday, Sevilla chief Monchi admitted he became aware of these links through social networking platforms.
That doesn’t mean Julen Lopetegui’s side are not interested in the France international as Marca on Thursday explain the former AS Monaco man is the ‘main target’ for the sporting director.
The ex-Real Madrid manager wants his employer to strengthen the attack and Martial’s ability to play on the left-wing and up-front is appreciated by the La Liga side.
To Sevilla’s surprise, his ‘clear predisposition’ is to join them and it is now left for them to negotiate with the Premier League side for the Frenchman’s transfer.
Marca say the Premier League side ‘do not see this [Sevilla] option badly’ since Martial has hardly been relied upon this season and has already asked Ralf Rangnick for a move away from United next month, something they will agree to.
The operation, for now, is ‘far away’ because of the price set by United. If the two clubs can somehow manage to find an agreement, then it won’t be long before Martial ends up at Sevilla.
