Ahead of the upcoming international break, the Danish media, particularly Ekstrabladet, are focusing on the situation of Christian Eriksen at Manchester United.
The playmaker was once seen as one of the best in his position in the Premier League, but this season has seen him drop down the pecking order under Erik ten Hag, which is a problem for the Denmark national team.
The newspaper explain that while Kasper Hjulmand will pick him this time around for the next round of matches, that might not be the case in the future if the midfielder’s situation at Manchester United fails to improve.
The 32-year-old is ‘out in the cold’ at Old Trafford, and has ended up ‘in a bit of a dead end’ under his current manager.
In fact, they go as far as saying that the situation is ‘critical’ for Eriksen and could become even more ‘problematic’ if it continues, with it said he simply has been ‘overtaken by the competition’, having become ‘surplus to requirements’.
He is the fifth choice behind the likes of Casemiro, Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay and even Sofyan Amrabat, with the latter still getting game time against Everton despite his terrible mistake in the Manchester derby.
Therefore, something needs to change for Eriksen in the coming months if he is to keep adding to his impressive 126 caps for his country, especially right before the Euros, where Denmark will face Slovenia, England and Serbia in the group stages.
