Manchester United are ‘planning to discuss’ their plans for Facundo Pellistri this week as Alavés push to get him back on loan.

Pellistri has been with the Spanish club since January, with United sending him out on loan to get regular first-team football that wasn’t on offer at Old Trafford.

That is something he has enjoyed, managing 12 appearances in La Liga before the end of the season.

They are keen to keep him, with Noticias de Alava reporting that they have ‘acknowledged their firm desire’ to re-sign Pellistri practically from the minute they avoided relegation.

The newspaper explains the United loanee passed his first-team test with ‘flying colours’ this season, and they want to continue with him.

Manchester United are planning talks throughout this week but first need to decide whether they want him among the squad this season or to secure another loan abroad.

At the moment, ‘everything suggests’ that the latter is more likely, but they have not made a final decision at this moment in time.

That will change this week when Manchester United chiefs ‘plan to address’ the situation.

If they decide the latter, Alavés will ‘come to bid strongly’ for Pellistri in the auction that will develop to secure him on loan.

The Spanish side have a major advantage up their sleeve because they have an agreement with the player to return to Medizorroza.

Pellistri knows he has the confidence of those in charge at the club, including the manager, and so will have the minutes he wants and the continuity that will allow him to continue growing.

There is competition for him, though, with several British sides and Club Brugge, who tried to get him in January, all keen and capable of paying ‘the full amount’ for Pellistri, something Alavés did not do this year.

That is a problem that would need resolving in negotiations with Manchester United when Pellistri’s future will be decided.

That is expected to be a ‘complicated process’ for Alavés, who have an advantage over their competition but will have to ‘play their cards skilfully’, especially in terms of the sporting offer, they want to continue with Pellistri next season.

For the time being, the youngster is enjoying a well deserved holiday, but this week will see his future determined and if ‘everything goes according to plan’ he will be returning to Spain.
