Manchester United and Real Madrid sent scouts to watch the Champions League tie between Sporting and Legia Warsaw last night, according to Record.
The newspaper had already made the claim on Tuesday, as the officials were expected in Alvalade, and today they’re confirming the information.
Record keep saying that the motive behind Manchester United and Real Madrid’s trip was to watch Gelson Martins live.
The winger had a decent game (nothing exceptional, like it was previously against Real Madrid) and keeps up his good form.
He now has two goals and five assists this season, all of them in the Portuguese league.
Gelson Martins is one of the worst paid players at Sporting, as he currently earns €120k gross per season.
Claims from last week said the winger was about to make five times more, as the Lions want to offer a deal of €700k per year to reward his good form and make sure he’s happy at the club.
Despite his relatively low wages, the 21-year-old currently as a €60m release clause in a contract which runs until 2021.
