Manchester United are the ‘top favourites’ to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham this summer after Manchester City turned their attention to Erling Haaland.

City pursued Kane throughout the previous summer transfer window but were unable to do a deal with Tottenham, who absolutely refused to sell their star man regardless of the money being offered.

Eventually, Pep Guardiola and co. gave up on a deal, but it had been felt that they might return this summer, particularly as Kane will have entered the final two years of his current contract.

It seems, though, they have turned their attention elsewhere, with BILD reporting that Borussia Dortmund star Erling Haaland is now at the top of their list.

They can reportedly offer Haaland everything he wants to convince him and, thus, are likely to be among the favourites for his signature.

That means they’ll no longer be interested in Kane, who has 17 goals to his name this season, and as such, rivals Manchester United ‘are now the top favourites’ to sign the England star.

The newspaper say they have ‘learned from England’ that United have moved to the top of the list for Kane’s signature as current PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino is ‘expected’ to replace interim coach Ralf Rangnick in the summer.

Kane and Pochettino ‘worked together successfully’ for several years at Tottenham, with the striker scoring 169 goals in 242 games under the Argentine.

They now ‘want to continue’ that at Old Trafford and have seemingly been given their chance to do so by Manchester City looking elsewhere.

Now, there’s a lot more to it than that, and this is not a transfer that’s going to happen in the blink of an eye, but it seems Manchester United have been given a big chance to get the striker many think they need.
