Manchester United are ‘reconsidering’ letting Facundo Pellistri leave the club on loan this summer after injuries and the decision to cut ties with Mason Greenwood.
That’s according to journalist Leon ten Voorde, who says Manchester United are considering their options as Erik ten Hag’s squad has started to look a little thin in the attacking areas.
Pellistri has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford this summer after a disappointing season last year in which he barely featured under Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman is reportedly keen to see the youngster move on a temporary basis and had even recommended him to former club FC Twente as part of that.
That potential transfer has been simmering for several weeks with neither side making any definitive progress, although FC Twente club advisor Jan Streuer publicly admitted yesterday that they were trying to make a deal happen.
Those efforts, though, may have been in vain as Ten Voorde reports that Manchester United are now reconsidering their position following their major decision yesterday.
“The chance that the winger Facundo Pellistri from Manchester United will come to Enschede has become a lot smaller,” Twente Insite report him writing in his column for Tubantia.
“Until Monday, FC Twente had good hopes that the international from Uruguay would come to De Grolsch Veste. The club could also count on the approval of manager Erik ten Hag.
“Due to the loss of Greenwood and some injuries, United is currently short on attackers. It is therefore doubtful whether Pellistri will be allowed to leave in the short term. The final decision will be made one of these days.”
