Ajax’s Donny van de Beek is all set to become Manchester United’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

Multiple reports from the British press have stressed Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho still remains a priority for the Red Devils, but it’s been claimed their immediate focus has now shifted to RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano.

The centre-back recently signed a new deal with the German club, and has a €42m release clause, which will come into effect next summer.

Chemnitz’s edition of Morgenpost on Wednesday covered the 21-year-old, with a title reading  ‘Man United hot on Upamecano’.

It states the Old Trafford club have entered into negotiations with the Bundesliga side, but the newspaper doesn’t make it clear if it’s their own information or if they’ve taken it from elsewhere.

Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff recently open the door for the Frenchman to leave, if an interested club arrived with a ‘completely immoral offer’.

There’s no mention of what would be classified as an immoral offer, but Morgenpost indicate that Leipzig rejected Arsenal’s €60m bid last summer.

This could suggest Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side may have to make an offer higher than €60m to take the player away from the German club.

Meanwhile, SportBild reporter Christian Falk has taken on Twitter to completely dismiss the possibility of Upamecano ending up at United this summer.
