Manchester United are unlikely to turn Sofyan Amrabat’s loan deal into a permanent move in the summer, and he could end up at Juventus instead.
That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who say the Moroccan midfielder is an old ‘obsession’ for Juventus director of football Cristiano Giuntoli.
They explain that Amrabat’s ‘English adventure’ with Manchester United is proving to be ‘less fascinating than expected’ with just 14 appearances and 634 minutes in the Premier League so far after arriving on loan from Fiorentina in the summer.
The former Verona player is ‘starting to feel nostalgic’ for Italy and Manchester United, who are planning big changes in the summer, do not seem willing to redeem him despite paying a big sum to sign him on loan.
Unless that plan changes, Amrabat will be returning to Fiorentina in June but whether he stays there is up for debate. His current deal in Florence expires in 2025 and a farewell could suit everyone.
That’s where Juventus enter proceedings as they were keen before he joined Manchester United and even held talks over a possible deal.
They remain interested in him and are ‘keeping their antennas straight’, waiting for Manchester United to discard him in the summer so they can make their move.
