Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri ‘must convince’ Sevilla manager Quique Sánchez Flores to give him his chance, having so far failed to impress his new club.
That’s according to AS, who make it clear the Spanish boss is bringing the youngster down a peg in the early days at his loan club.
Hannibal joined Sevilla on loan from Manchester United in January, turning down the opportunity to stay in the Premier League with Everton and preferring to head to Spain.
That’s not been a smart decision so far as he’s managed just two appearances in La Liga and featured in just 13% of the available minutes.
AS cover that today and how the Manchester United loanee is ‘already aiming’ for the first team but has ‘hardly counted’ for Quique Sánchez Flores to date.
Indeed, the Sevilla coach has gave him ‘several warnings’ so far, telling the youngster he has to “learn what Sevilla is” before he will be given his chance.
The belief is that Hannibal arrived at the club thinking he had to start from minute one, but Sánchez Flores is keen to make it clear that is not the case and he ‘must convince’ him first.
It seems he felt the player arrived from Manchester United thinking quite highly of himself and the Sevilla boss is keen to rectify that, as Sevilla try to turn their season around, wanting everyone to be fully committed to the cause.
The chance to impress may be now as injuries have limited Sánchez Flores’ options in midfield for this weekend, but the youngster needs to do some serious convincing first.
