Often showing flashes of potentially becoming an important player at Manchester United, Eric Bailly’s main issue during his time at Old Trafford has been injuries.

These have stopped him from gaining the trust of a number of managers, including Erik ten Hag, who appeared more than happy to send the Ivory Coast international on loan to Marseille.

He started well, before picking up an injury, then returned, played well, only to end up injured once again on Sunday night against Paris Saint-Germain.

La Provence dedicate an article to the Manchester United loanee on Monday, kicking it off with ‘all of a sudden, Bailly fell to the ground, a hand on his right thigh’.

This happened in the 42nd minute of the game, just before the only goal of the game, and the local newspaper wonder why he ‘sprinted like a maniac’ after a ball that was close to going out of play.

Were it not for that decision, the Manchester United man might not have gotten injured, and might have even seen out the game, which was still 0-0 at the time.

In fact, before that, La Provence state he had been ‘imperial at the heart of the Marseille defence’, playing in the middle of a three, and having managed to ‘muzzle’ Neymar up until that point.

He had been ‘monstrous’ as a leader, too, and had been a ‘token of solidity and an all-risks insurance’ for the Ligue 1 side.

That’s how well he was playing, and his exit was the ‘turning point’ of the game, which ended up 1-0 in the Parisians’ favours.

As of yet, there is no news of how severe the injury or how long he will be out for, but the hope is for him to return as quickly as possible, with Marseille needing him for the big upcoming games against Tottenham and Eintracht Frankfurt, among others, before the World Cup.
